For me, the answer is simple. I would take the Instant $1 million. Why? Because think about what you could do with "just" $1million!
I keep seeing this photo and this question pop up on the Oh Glorious Master Internet. Yet every time I ask my friends, family, or whoever is sitting next to me what they would do... They seem so conflicted. They have no idea. For me, the answer is simple. I would take the Instant $1 million. Why? Because think about what you could do with "just" $1million!

I bought a watch which died on me three times in the 10 months that I had it. Annoying. The issue? Poor batteries provided to me by the retailer who kept replacing the battery for me (never going there again!). I finally got fed up and figured out how to open the darn thing myself (from the Almighty Master Internet, of course). Now this will only really apply if you have a screw-on watch back like mine (see below). The others I believe need to be popped open, which can also likely easily be done with a slim screwdriver -- like one for a pair of glasses. The battery itself costs about $3 and the other materials you likely have at home. Compare this to spending $10-$20 on a battery replacement service. Feel tempted, yet? When it comes to living on a budget, I find the biggest challenge to be any sort of shopping trip. The biggest risk of blowing my budget (aside from ANYTHING food related because, yum) is if I need to replace shoes or clothing, if I need a particular electronic accessory, or even if I am just getting groceries. Why? S-A-L-E-S
Here is a list of 10 simple, easy, and cost-effective cleaning tricks that you can use to save a few bucks while still keeping your home nice and clean.
These tricks focus on their ability to be re-used, their cheap 'investment' cost, and their ease of use. I use quite a few of these and have recommended them all to friends and family. Here we go!
I'm sure that most of you have heard whispers of the infamous T-shirt rag: so easy to make, free, and practical.
Well it's true. They exist. And yes, they are easy to make, free, and practical. But to me, they are just rags. So if you are ready to cringe at my utter disregard for straight lines and even-ness, keep reading! For this micro-post I am encouraging you to embrace your friendly neighbourhood dollar store! Not literally. Don't go out and start hugging buildings and strangers because I told you so. We're talking figuratively here, okay? Back on track: Don't be afraid to get a few things from the dollar store. Yes, quality may at times be an issue. But honestly, oftentimes it's not! The dollar store has tons of quality items and items that are of enough quality to be used safely and economically. If one third of my home is made up of IKEA products, one third of DIY makeovers and hand-me-downs, then the majority of the last one third is definitely made up of dollar store finds. |
